The Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) has announced reinforced measures to combat the threat of Naegleria fowleri, a "brain-eating" amoeba, following the death of a 44-year-old man earlier this month. The victim had no history of swimming and likely contracted the infection from contaminated tap water. A high-level meeting, chaired by KWSC Chief Operating Officer Asadullah and attended by health officials from the provincial government, WHO, and UNICEF, decided to intensify water chlorination and surveillance.
