Kaïs Saïed: Economic indicators are improving, but Tunisians do not feel the effects 07.07.2026

During a ceremony at the Carthage Palace on Monday, July 6, Tunisian President Kaïs Saïed received the Governor of the Central Bank of Tunisia, Fathi Zouhair Nouri, for the presentation of the 2025 annual report. Although macroeconomic indicators show a notable improvement, with 2.5% growth, controlled inflation, and foreign exchange reserves covering 103 days of imports, the Head of State highlighted a major gap. He stated that these economic performances have not yet translated into a concrete improvement in the daily lives of Tunisian citizens. Saïed insisted that economic success must not be an end in itself, but must imperatively translate into a real impact on the population's living conditions and the repayment of debts.
