Katastrophen in der Schule: "Lehrer sind gewissermaßen Ersthelfer" 18.02.2026

Anja Besand, a professor at TU Dresden, has developed a disaster curriculum for German schools, inspired by the resilience of Ukrainian educators during the conflict. This curriculum aims to equip teachers with the skills and materials to maintain educational functions and provide stability during extreme situations, such as natural disasters, pandemics, or societal disruptions. Besand emphasizes that schools can serve as crucial societal hubs, offering normalcy and support to students and families. The program focuses on practical guidance for communication, managing fear and rumors, and conflict resolution, underscoring the importance of relationship, structure, and orientation for educators in crisis. The initiative seeks to transform schools into anchors of societal cohesion, capable of providing essential services beyond traditional education.
