Cooper on Wednesday, June 24, directed the Kennedy Center to explain the purpose and status of the tarp and scaffolding obscuring its front entrance, which previously displayed both President Donald Trump and former President John F. Kennedy’s names. The order also compels the center to detail its operations, programming, and public access in the weeks ahead, intensifying a legal dispute over renovations and institutional control. This follows a request from Kennedy Center President and CEO Matt Floca to extend a June 17 directive that gave the center three days to outline immediate construction plans and long-term initiatives.
