Dubai's Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has released a comprehensive framework, "Quality Expectations for Effective Distance Learning," establishing minimum quality standards for private K-12 schools during periods of remote and online instruction. This framework, intended as a standing reference for continuity arrangements, addresses three core areas: student access, participation, wellbeing, and safeguarding; teaching, learning, assessment, and feedback; and leadership, communication, and readiness for flexible delivery. Schools are urged to review their current arrangements against these expectations within two weeks, with a particular focus on ensuring no student is left behind, maintaining active safeguarding procedures, prioritizing quality over quantity in teaching, and supporting parents without overburdening them. The guidelines also emphasize digital readiness, data privacy, and staff wellbeing, with specific considerations for vulnerable learners, including students of determination and early years students.
