King becomes first monarch to reveal tax bill as royal public funding to double to £100m 26.06.2026

King Charles has voluntarily disclosed that he paid £12.9 million in tax for the 2024-2025 fiscal year, becoming the first British monarch to reveal his personal tax bill. This disclosure places him among the top 100 taxpayers in the UK. The Prince of Wales also revealed he paid £7.76 million in tax over the same period, according to the annual royal report and accounts. The publication of these figures is a personal decision by both men, with Buckingham Palace describing it as an effort to increase transparency and encourage wider understanding of accountability. Since the King ascended the throne in 2022, the combined tax bill of father and son paid to HM Revenue and Customs has exceeded £50 million.
