King Charles’s US state visit will go ahead as planned after Washington shooting, Buckingham Palace says 26.04.2026

King Charles and Queen Camilla's state visit to the United States will proceed as planned, with minor operational adjustments, following a shooting incident at a Washington media dinner that led to an attempted assassination of President Donald Trump. Buckingham Palace confirmed the visit's continuation after discussions with government officials on both sides of the Atlantic. The King and Queen expressed gratitude for the swift security measures and are looking forward to commencing their four-day trip on Monday, which includes various engagements, a private tea with the President and First Lady, talks in the Oval Office, and commemoration of significant anniversaries. The suspect, identified as Cole Tomas Allen, 31, faces multiple charges.
