KMJS: Victims' families urge accountability, justice in deadly Angeles building collapse 31.05.2026

Families of victims from the nine-story Walkin Hotel collapse in Angeles City, Pampanga, are demanding accountability and justice following the May 24 incident that trapped approximately 47 workers sleeping in ground-floor barracks. As of Sunday, 27 individuals have been rescued, but an estimated 16 remain missing, with no signs of life detected by rescue teams. Survivors reported a lack of manpower and inadequate construction materials, with one survivor specifically noting the undersized support columns as a potential cause for the collapse, which occurred in less than 11 seconds. Angeles City Mayor Carmelo Lazatin II has ordered a comprehensive investigation, and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group is also probing potential criminal charges, while the building's owner has expressed willingness to assist and conduct an independent investigation.
