Korpsleiding politie biedt medewerkers excuses aan na beschuldigingen in zaak-Lisa 09.03.2026

The Dutch police leadership has apologized to its employees following accusations that 1700 officers accessed the case file of Lisa, a murder victim. Police chief Janny Knol issued an apology in a letter to all staff, retracting previous communications that had caused distress. Initially, Justice Minister David van Weel suggested the access was likely unnecessary, but later clarified that officers did not directly view the criminal dossier. Police unions and officers expressed outrage, as the dossier was password-protected and accessible only to investigators. It is now understood that officers primarily searched a system for logged reports, such as suspect descriptions, in an effort to assist the investigation. The leadership acknowledges their communication was flawed, leading many colleagues to feel unfairly judged, and has declared all prior letters regarding system access as void.
