Kräftige Westströmung baut sich auf – Starkwindband bringt jetzt nächste Wetter-Wende 20.02.2026

A significant shift in weather is occurring in Germany, moving from extreme cold to mild conditions within a short period. As of February 20, 2026, eastern regions experienced temperatures below minus 10 degrees Celsius due to clear nights, residual snow, and dry cold air. This cold, however, was not stable and is being displaced by a powerful westerly flow from the Atlantic, bringing milder maritime air. The Jetstream, a strong wind band at approximately ten kilometers altitude, is gaining dynamism, allowing low-pressure systems from the North Atlantic to move directly towards Central Europe. This transition can lead to temperature increases of over 20 degrees Celsius within 48 hours, with forecasts reaching 13 degrees Celsius in the east by Sunday, February 22, and potentially near 20 degrees Celsius in the southwest next week. Despite these mild temperatures, the change does not signify a stable spring, as the Atlantic air will also bring clouds, wind, and rain.
