KZN teacher fired for abusing authority to get a girl pupil’s phone number 20.08.2026

The Education Labour Relations Council (ELRC) dismissed Mphumeleli Ludwick Ndlovu, a teacher at a Umlazi high school, on Tuesday for misconduct. Arbitrator Prathima Jairajh found that Ndlovu abused his authority by repeatedly summoning a 17-year-old pupil, identified as Learner A, to the staff room where they were alone. The pupil testified that Ndlovu looked at her body inappropriately, causing her genuine distress and fear. She stopped attending school, missing exams, and only returned after the new principal intervened.
