The CFDT, through its Secretary General Marylise Léon, has firmly rejected a proposal from the Medef to create a less protected "CDI jeunes" (young people's permanent contract) for individuals distant from employment. Léon stated on France Inter that the proposal, which would allow for termination without cause during the initial years, belongs to the Medef and that the CFDT will not discuss it on that basis. This initiative, presented on January 28th, has also been criticized by the CGT as a "declaration of war" and has not been adopted by the government, according to the Minister of Labor. The CFDT plans to present its own alternative proposals soon, emphasizing a collective responsibility to address youth employment challenges.
