Despite this success, Spain, with 97 million visitors in the same year, is challenging France's dominance, particularly in terms of tourist spending, with international receipts reaching 135 billion euros. French officials acknowledge that while France attracts a high volume of visitors, many are transient, unlike Spain, which is perceived as a more established destination where tourists tend to stay longer, averaging seven days compared to France's five. To further solidify its leadership and increase revenue to 100 billion euros by 2030, France aims to enhance its tourism offerings and diversify its sectors.
