The De La Salle Lady Spikers demonstrated no rust after a two-week break, decisively defeating the two-time defending champion NU Lady Bulldogs 25-23, 25-18, 25-18 in Game 1 of the UAAP Season 88 women’s volleyball finals on Wednesday, May 6, at the Mall of Asia Arena. This victory places La Salle on the brink of securing their second title in four seasons and extends their unbeaten streak to 15 games, having swept the elimination round. Angel Canino led the team with 17 points, supported by strong performances from Amie Provido, Shane Reterta, and Shevana Laput. La Salle’s formidable defense effectively contained NU’s key players, particularly limiting super rookie Sam Cantada. The Lady Spikers aim to clinch the championship in Game 2 on Saturday, May 9.
