Labour court halts R37.7 million execution against company after dispute with dismissed workers 14.06.2026

The Labour Court in Durban has halted an R37.7 million execution against Startek, an outsourcing company, after ruling that dismissed former employees acted unreasonably and in bad faith. The execution, which had frozen Startek's sole operating bank account, was initiated by employees seeking to enforce a Labour Appeal Court order concerning their dismissals by WNS Global Services, a business Startek acquired in 2021. Startek argued it intended to petition for further appeal and requested a stay of execution, but the employees proceeded with enforcing the writ after Startek's application for leave to appeal was dismissed. Acting Judge Sean Snyman found that Startek would suffer devastating consequences from the frozen account and that a successful appeal could alter the legal foundation of the enforced order, while the employees would face less prejudice from a delay.
