Lake Tahoe squatter suspect caught on surveillance in rich-and-famous mountain retreat 13.07.2026

A Nevada homeowner discovered an apparent squatter had been living in his Lake Tahoe residence after returning from a three-week vacation on June 5. The homeowner reported the incident to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, noting that someone had been eating his food, wearing his clothes, and that his birth certificate was missing. Investigators recovered a wallet containing a Visa debit card issued to Clarence Zillman and a Safeway receipt for two packs of Camel cigarettes. Surveillance footage from the Safeway at the Round Hill Shopping Center captured an individual making the purchase, wearing a shirt and hat that the homeowner identified as his own. Deputies later found the shirt inside the home, but the hat remains missing.
