Brianna Mohr, a 21-year-old experienced hiker, died of hypothermia in the Adirondack Mountains, USA, on Thursday, February 12th, after falling during her ascent of Mount Marcy, New York's highest peak. Despite contacting rescuers around 3 PM, the severe weather conditions, with temperatures ranging from -22°C to -6°C and dense clouds hindering aerial visibility, meant it took six hours to locate her exact position. By the time rescuers arrived, Mohr had already succumbed to the cold. Her dog, who accompanied her on the expedition, survived. Mohr was known for her extensive wilderness expeditions across the United States.
