'Law & Order: SVU' star Mariska Hargitay to host 2026 Emmy Awards 07.07.2026

NBC announced on Tuesday, July 7, that Mariska Hargitay will serve as the official emcee for the 78th Emmy Awards in 2026. The television industry's premier awards ceremony is scheduled to be broadcast from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on September 14. Hargitay, the 62-year-old star of the long-running NBC crime procedural "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," expressed her honor in celebrating the storytelling community during NBC's 100th birthday year. Before the hosting announcement, nominations for the awards will be revealed on July 8 by Liza Colón-Zayas and Jeff Hiller. Hargitay has a storied history with the awards, having earned eight nominations for her portrayal of Detective Olivia Benson and winning a statuette in 2006. The event will be available to viewers via NBC and streaming on Peacock.
