Lebanon’s hospitals may run out of vital medical supplies within days, says WHO 09.04.2026

The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned that some hospitals in Lebanon are facing a critical shortage of vital medical supplies, including life-saving trauma kits, and could run out within days. This depletion is attributed to mass casualties resulting from large-scale Israeli strikes on April 8 and 9, which caused over 250 deaths and more than 1,000 injuries. Dr. Abdinasir Abubakar, the WHO's representative in Lebanon, stated that approximately three weeks' worth of trauma supplies were used in a single day, and a further mass casualty event would be disastrous, potentially leading to preventable deaths due to lack of resources. Additionally, medicines for chronic diseases like diabetes are also facing stock-outs due to disrupted supply chains.
