Lenovo has a hunch you’re about to try quitting VMware 13.01.2026

Lenovo is introducing its new "FX" series of hyperconverged appliances, designed to facilitate easier transitions for organizations looking to move away from VMware's platform. According to Kumar Mitra, Lenovo's executive director for Central Asia Pacific, Australia, and New Zealand, many customers are contemplating cloud repatriation and are seeking infrastructure that is not tied to a single vendor. The FX series, launched in late 2025, is certified to run both VMware and Nutanix stacks, with the capability to convert between them. This hardware flexibility aims to support pilot projects and proof-of-concept initiatives, addressing the complexity and cost associated with VMware migrations, especially following Broadcom's acquisition and changes to VMware's licensing.
