Les courbatures sont-elles le signe qu’on a forcément fait une « bonne séance » de sport ? 21.02.2026

Contrary to popular belief, muscle soreness, or "courbatures," is not necessarily an indicator of a productive or effective workout. Coach Charly Aourir explains that these pains are primarily a sign of inflammation resulting from new exercises, different tempos, or increased amplitude, particularly during the eccentric phase of movement where muscle fibers sustain microlessons. While this inflammation is not serious, it signifies that the training was either too intense or neurologically taxing for the muscles. As the body adapts to a training regimen or through progressive overload, muscle soreness will naturally diminish, even with increased intensity. Therefore, the absence of soreness does not preclude progress, and continued movement, rather than inactivity or anti-inflammatories, is recommended for managing occasional soreness.
