Live Chamber of Deputies continues debate on public budgets 07.07.2026

The Chamber of Deputies is currently intensively debating the amendment to the public budgets, which the Senate returned for reconsideration with several fundamental adjustments. The coalition majority (ANO, SPD, Motoristé) has pushed through a vote on the bill no later than Wednesday at 01:00, thereby blocking opposition proposals for a delay. The central issue is the restoration of the electronic record of sales (EET), which the Ministry of Finance expects to bring in 14.4 billion CZK, a move the opposition views as an unsustainable debt mechanism. The debate is characterized by intense political clashes; while Minister Alena Schillerová defends the government's version as a well-thought-out whole, opposition parties ODS, STAN, and the Pirates warn of a loosening of fiscal responsibility and a "budgetary Armageddon." Discussions also cover controversial tax changes, such as the implementation of EET for cashless payments and exemptions for certain health benefits.
