Loire-Atlantique : sous la pluie, le secteur du bâtiment est à la peine « on s’adapte, mais c’est difficile » 20.02.2026

Since the beginning of 2026, the building sector in Loire-Atlantique has been significantly impacted by adverse weather conditions, with persistent rain disrupting construction sites. Aurélien Pasquier, a business owner and head of the Saint-Nazaire Côte Atlantique sector for the Fédération du bâtiment de Loire-Atlantique, highlights the constant monitoring of weather forecasts and the challenges faced by trades such as roofing, carpentry, plastering, masonry, and carpentry, particularly affecting earthworks. While no projects are entirely halted, the rain causes logistical disruptions, delays in finishing work, and potential compromises on quality, leading to an estimated ten days of lost production for plastering alone. The "chômage intempéries" scheme covers 60% of wages during these forced work stoppages, but the continuous poor weather is also taking a toll on employee morale, leaving them feeling fatigued and disheartened.
