A 37-year-old lorry driver, Tan Chee Gang, was sentenced by the Magistrate’s Court in Balik Pulau, Penang, to an RM8,000 fine and one day’s imprisonment after admitting to charges of making an obscene gesture and dangerous driving. The offences occurred on May 28 along Jalan Tun Dr Awang. For the obscene gesture under Section 507B of the Penal Code, he received a RM3,000 fine and one day’s jail. He was further fined RM5,000 and disqualified from driving for five years for dangerous driving under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
