Lualaba: Cécile Munongo crowned Woman of Honor in Bunkeya 07.07.2026

The Bayeke Kingdom of Garanganze celebrated its 28th Throne Festival in Bunkeya, Lualaba Province. This historic ceremony brought together numerous political and traditional authorities to honor the royal heritage. Mwami Munongo Godefroid Junior, the seventh successor of Msiri I, performed a sacred procession to Mount Nkuru before joining the festivities. During the event, Queen Cécile Munongo Chalwe was honored by the Minister of Gender, Micheline Ombae, who presented her with the "MT Kasalu Woman of Honor" trophy and a certificate of honor. This distinction recognizes her commitment to the development of the chieftaincy and the preservation of traditional values. Roger Kabeya Tshibundu emphasized the importance of involving customary chiefs in public policy, particularly through the 145 Territories Local Development Program.
