L’un des barons de la drogue les plus recherchés au monde est tué : des révoltes éclatent partout dans le pays 23.02.2026

Following the death of Nemesio Oseguera, known as "El Mencho," one of the world's most wanted drug lords, on Sunday, February 22, 2026, widespread violence erupted across Mexico. El Mencho, the leader of the powerful Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG), was killed during a military operation in Tapalpa, Jalisco, which was supported by U.S. intelligence and resulted in seven cartel deaths. In retaliation, the CJNG initiated a wave of violence in at least 20 states, leading to the suspension of in-person classes in eight states and judicial authorities authorizing court closures. The U.S. advised its citizens to seek shelter in tourist areas like Cancún and Oaxaca, while Guatemala heightened border surveillance. President Claudia Sheinbaum urged calm amidst the unrest.
