Malaysia not changing stance on Jho Low despite possible US pardon, says Anwar 03.07.2026

Malaysia has firmly stated it will not change its position on Low Taek Jho, widely known as Jho Low, despite international reports suggesting he is among about 250 individuals being considered for a potential pardon by US President Donald Trump. The pardon is reportedly planned to coincide with the US’s 250th Independence Day celebrations on July 4. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim clarified that any such decision by the United States is strictly an internal affair and will not affect Malaysia’s legal stance. “Malaysia's position is clear. We follow the rule of law. Whatever the United States decides, that's their internal matter. We will not be influenced, disturbed or affected by any US decision,” Anwar told reporters after prayers at Masjid As-Sodiqin in Taman Kobena on Friday, July 3.
