Malaysia open to stronger petroleum, energy cooperation with UAE, says Miti 23.06.2026

The Investment, Trade and Industry Ministry (Miti) stated Malaysia is open to strengthening strategic cooperation with the UAE in high-potential sectors including petroleum, gas, petrochemicals, and logistics. Crude petroleum is Malaysia's top import from the UAE, valued at RM11.15 billion in 2025, representing 43% of total UAE imports. Downstream petroleum products added RM4.23 billion. Despite a negative bilateral trade balance, the UAE remains a vital feedstock source for Malaysia's downstream industry, which supports a global export supply chain worth RM103.55 billion and a positive trade flow of RM6.8 billion.
