Mikro MSC Berhad, a Malaysian power systems specialist, has entered a two-year strategic partnership with Hong Kong Cospower Technology Co Ltd (HKCT) to develop utility-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS) in Malaysia. This collaboration aims to address the intermittency challenges of solar power by storing energy generated during peak sunlight for later use, thereby supporting Malaysia's transition to renewable energy sources. The agreement, signed in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Fadillah Yusof, positions HKCT as Mikro MSC's exclusive partner for these large-scale projects. This initiative aligns with Malaysia's upcoming first major grid-scale battery procurement under the MyBeST program, as battery manufacturers globally seek to expand operations amid rising demand and geopolitical trade tensions.
