Request to expand BUDI Diesel subsidy to uncles, aunts under study 03.07.2026

The domestic trade and cost of living ministry is reviewing requests to widen the BUDI Diesel subsidy eligibility transfers to include extended family members, such as uncles and aunts. Currently, transfers are limited to immediate family members—spouses, parents, children, and siblings—according to Sarawak director Matthew Dominic Barin, as reported by Dayak Daily. Barin acknowledged receiving numerous questions and concerns about the restriction, stating that the request for expansion is being studied. Under the BUDI Diesel initiative, subsidised diesel has been sold at RM2.10 per litre nationwide since July 1.
