Malta Among EU Countries With The Least Seasonal Tourism 07.07.2026

According to new Eurostat data regarding sustainable tourism, Malta has been ranked as one of the European Union countries with the least seasonal tourism. In 2025, only 21.9% of all overnight stays in Maltese tourist accommodations occurred during July and August, the two busiest months in Europe. This makes Malta the EU leader in low seasonality, surpassing Germany at 24.0% and Finland at 24.1%. While the EU average for summer stays is 31.1%, countries like Croatia show much higher seasonality, with 54.5% of stays concentrated in those months. The data suggests Malta successfully attracts visitors more evenly throughout the year, reducing its dependence on summer peaks. These findings are part of Eurostat's first harmonised European indicators on sustainable tourism, which utilize seasonality as a critical metric for assessing the long-term sustainability of the tourism sector.
