Man charged with attempted Trump assassination indicted for assaulting Secret Service officer 05.05.2026

Cole Tomas Allen, a 31-year-old from Torrance, California, has been indicted on a fourth charge of assaulting a US officer with a deadly weapon, following his alleged attempt to assassinate President Donald Trump at the White House Correspondents Dinner on April 25. The indictment, unsealed Tuesday and signed by US Attorney Jeanine Pirro, supersedes prior charges and includes counts of attempted presidential assassination and firearms offenses. Allen, who studied at Caltech and donated to a Democratic PAC, allegedly emailed that administration officials were targets. Armed with a handgun, shotgun, and knives, he rushed a security checkpoint at the Washington Hilton hotel, triggering a security review. Allen remains in custody and faces a potential life sentence if convicted.
