Shahidul Haque, a 59-year-old migrant claiming benefits, is facing eviction from a retirement complex in Reading after moving his wife and three-year-old twin daughters into his single-room flat without permission. Southern Housing, the property owner, has taken Haque to Reading County Court for breaching his tenancy agreement, citing numerous complaints from elderly residents about noise and anti-social behaviour, including children crying and doors banging at unsociable hours. Haque, who claims limited English prevented him from understanding the tenancy agreement, argues that evicting his family would violate his human rights under Article 8 of the ECHR. The case has been adjourned multiple times, with the next hearing scheduled for May 5, as Haque seeks a more suitable family home.
