State police reported an incident in central Riga that occurred on July 1. According to the LETA agency, police received a report from a witness regarding a man masturbating on the street while looking at a window accessible to a preschool. Children also witnessed the incident. Officers from the Riga North Division requested identification from the man, born in 1983, but he attempted to flee before being quickly detained and taken into custody. The suspect has previously been on the police's radar for property crimes. Police have initiated criminal proceedings for attempting to cause indecency to a minor, an offense punishable by up to seven years in prison. Additionally, an administrative process has been initiated against him for failure to comply with lawful requirements. Police have applied detention as a security measure.
