Man die opriep tot 'burgergrenscontroles' krijgt zes weken celstraf 23.02.2026

A 54-year-old man, identified as H., has been sentenced to six weeks in prison for inciting "citizen border checks" on social media in June. H. questioned who would be willing to guard the borders at night, alleging that German police were "dumping asylum seekers" across the border. Following his posts, groups of individuals conducted unauthorized checks on vehicles entering the Netherlands near Ter Apel and Sellingen. The court in Assen ruled that H.'s messages constituted incitement to action, regardless of whether the citizen checks actually occurred, deeming his actions to have "crossed the line." While the prosecution sought a social media ban, the judge denied it, emphasizing the right to free expression. This is not H.'s first offense; he has previously received two community service sentences for similar inflammatory posts related to asylum policy, COVID-19, and livestock reduction.
