Mann auf Kreuzfahrtschiff von Aufzug zerquetscht – Neue Details zum Horror-Unfall 19.02.2026

A crew member tragically died on the 16-deck luxury cruise ship Arvia in October 2025 while performing maintenance in an elevator shaft. The incident occurred around 5:52 AM on Deck 14 as the ship, operated by P&O Cruises, was en route from Southampton to Tenerife with 5,299 passengers and 1,681 crew. The technician had climbed onto the elevator car roof for inspection after a prior repair, but the elevator unexpectedly moved, crushing him between the car and the shaft wall. A ship's doctor pronounced him dead at 6:07 AM. The Arvia diverted to A Coruña, Spain, to hand over the body. Investigations by the UK's Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) are ongoing, with preliminary findings suggesting a restored safety interlock and a stored recall signal led to the fatal upward movement.
