Man's dismembered body found in freezer; ex-wife indicted for corpse mutilation and abandonment in Kobe 14.07.2026

On the 14th, the Kobe District Public Prosecutors Office announced that it has indicted Aki Mochizuki (50) on charges of corpse mutilation and abandonment of a corpse in connection with the discovery of a dismembered man's body in a freezer at an apartment in Chuo Ward, Kobe. The body is believed to be that of Yutaka Nishiguchi (then 42), a former resident who died in the room around December 2011. Mochizuki allegedly dismembered the body near the abdomen, placing the upper and lower halves into separate sandbags and storing them in the freezer. She has been indicted for continuing to pay the rent and electricity for the apartment until June 20 of this year in an attempt to conceal the body.
