Mao Aplasca dismissed from service —Ombudsman Remulla 04.07.2026

GMA News Online

Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla announced on Saturday the dismissal from service of Mao Aplasca, who held the positions of Acting Sergeant-at-Arms of the Senate and Sergeant-at-Arms of the Commission on Appointments. The dismissal, signed on Monday, stems from an incident on May 13 where Aplasca fired warning shots inside Senate premises, causing panic. Remulla stated that the decision would be published to ensure transparency. This action follows Aplasca's preventive suspension for six months without pay, issued by the Ombudsman due to the discharge of his firearm. Aplasca has not yet responded to requests for comment.
