Marche d'hommage, saluts nazis : la famille de Quentin sort du silence et s'exprime 23.02.2026

The family of Quentin Deranque, a 23-year-old radical far-right activist who died in Lyon after being beaten, has condemned the political exploitation and racist incidents that occurred during a tribute march held in his honor on Saturday. The family, who were not involved in organizing the event, stated they would have supported a respectful and apolitical homage but strongly denounced the presence of known extremists and the racist and discriminatory outbursts witnessed. Approximately 3,200 people participated in the march, during which authorities reported at least two individuals making Nazi salutes. The Lyon public prosecutor's office has opened investigations into public incitement to hatred or violence based on origin, ethnicity, nation, race, or religion, following reports of Nazi salutes and racist and homophobic insults.
