Marche pour Quentin à Lyon : l'ultragauche appelle à se rassembler, la tension monte d'un cran 20.02.2026

Antifascist groups in Lyon are urging their supporters to gather in the Guillotière neighborhood and the 7th arrondissement on Saturday, February 21st, coinciding with a march honoring Quentin Deranque. These groups aim to organize a defense against anticipated threats from thousands of far-right militants expected in the city from 3 PM. Citing concerns of attacks on vulnerable populations and public spaces, as expressed by the ultraleft website Rebellyon, antifascists plan to counter perceived far-right calls to "reclaim the city" with solidarity and creative actions. Their objective is to be visible, mobile, and to "overflow police arrangements," despite the significant police presence anticipated. The march, authorized by Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez, has faced opposition from Lyon Mayor Grégory Doucet and various left-wing political figures.
