Martin Scorsese embraces AI, teams up with company Black Forest Labs 03.06.2026

Legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese, 83, has officially embraced artificial intelligence (AI) as a creative tool, joining Black Forest Labs as an advisor. He has been utilizing the company's FLUX generative AI model to create storyboards for an upcoming film, describing the experience as "creatively freeing" and a natural evolution of cinema. Scorsese highlighted how AI can expedite the visualization and communication process during pre-production, saving time and resources without compromising quality. This move aligns with his history of adopting new filmmaking technologies, such as 3D and de-aging, and places him among other prominent directors like James Cameron and Peter Jackson who are exploring AI, though some, like Steven Spielberg and Guillermo del Toro, remain more cautious.
