Martin Scorsese Feels the Power of the Dark Side, Jumps on the AI Bandwagon 02.06.2026

Filmmaker Martin Scorsese has joined generative AI firm Black Forest Labs as an advisor, reportedly using their text-to-image and video models, like Flux, for storyboarding his next film. This move follows his previous public statements expressing optimism about AI's potential to evolve cinema and urging filmmakers not to fear the technology but to control it. Scorsese's involvement is partly linked to his talent manager, Rick Yorn, co-founder of an investing firm in Black Forest Labs, and former CAA founder Michael Ovitz, also an investor. While Scorsese stated the AI helps him communicate his vision more clearly to his creative team, he has consistently emphasized the irreplaceable human element in filmmaking, asserting that AI should be a tool, not a replacement for human creativity.
