Abdulla Zayed, Director of Business and Project Development at Masdar, stated at Baku Energy Week that Azerbaijan is poised to be a regional leader in the energy transition, functioning as an anchor, bridge, and model. He highlighted Azerbaijan's substantial renewable energy potential, particularly for solar and wind power, supported by its land resources, natural conditions, and a stable regulatory environment conducive to foreign investment. Masdar is actively involved in developing over 1 GW of renewable energy projects in Azerbaijan with local partners like SOCAR Green. Zayed emphasized Azerbaijan's strategic position for regional energy connectivity, its role in connecting Central Asia and Europe via the Black Sea, and its potential for electricity trade balancing. He pointed to Azerbaijan's successful transition towards a low-carbon economy, despite its hydrocarbon wealth, as a transferable example for other nations.
