At the Madlanga Commission on Tuesday, alleged cartel leader Vusimuzi "Cat" Matlala was grilled about a R4 million payment that connected Hangwani Morgan Maumela, himself, and the late taxi boss Jotham "King Mswazi" Msibi. Evidence leader Advocate Mahlape Sello SC confronted Matlala with a WhatsApp message from his number to Msibi, which included a proof of payment for R4 million from Maumela to Agrippa Khoza, linked to entities Wafra or Wafra Consulting. Matlala initially claimed Msibi and Maumela only knew each other through him, with their relationship limited to Msibi's interest in buying Maumela's Pagani Huayra sports car.
