MDA Space offers to buy a majority interest in French satellite firm 21h ago

MDA Space Ltd. has announced a firm offer to acquire a 70 percent majority interest in the French satellite firm Collecte Localisation Satellites for approximately $920 million in cash. Under this strategic agreement, the French space agency will retain a 30 percent stake in the company. CEO Mike Greenley stated that this acquisition aims to provide global government and commercial clients with enhanced Earth and space observation data, products, and services. To facilitate this transaction, MDA Space launched a bought-deal offering of 20 million common shares at US$35.60 per share, expected to generate US$712 million in gross proceeds. The transaction remains subject to regulatory approvals and is projected to conclude by late 2026 or early 2027. This move marks a significant expansion of MDA Space's capabilities within the international satellite and observation market.
