Mega-DealWarum Finnland mit der F-35 alles auf eine Karte setzt 23.02.2026

Finland is undertaking a significant military modernization by purchasing 64 F-35 fighter jets from Lockheed Martin for approximately 10 billion Euros. This acquisition, reported by Svenska Yle, aims to replace the aging Hornet fleet, in service since the 1990s, with advanced fifth-generation stealth technology, making them nearly invisible to radar. The first F-35s are scheduled to arrive in Rovaniemi by the end of 2026. Beyond military capabilities, the deal is expected to create around 6,000 jobs in Finland through the production of jet components by Patria, and includes a unique spare parts agreement to ensure operational readiness. This strategic move positions Finland at the forefront of aerial combat technology, as sixth-generation jets are still decades away from deployment.
