At least four people died in avalanches in Austria on Friday, with incidents reported in St. Anton am Arlberg, Klösterle in Vorarlberg, and the Nauders ski area in Tyrol. A 39-year-old Swiss snowboarder perished in Klösterle, while a 42-year-old German skier was killed in Nauders, though his 16-year-old son survived with severe injuries after a 400-meter-wide snow slab broke loose. Additionally, a man died during a clearing operation in Linz, Upper Austria. These events followed heavy snowfall, with over 30 avalanche deployments recorded in Tyrol on Friday alone, contributing to high avalanche danger in many winter sports regions.
