This follows a massive R71 million trademark infringement judgment in the United States and allegations from local franchisees regarding fraudulent franchise sales. While Mel has issued public apologies for their past conduct, Prosecutor Willem van Zyl has indicated the State will vigorously oppose Peet's bail bid, potentially utilizing the couple's social media posts as evidence during the legal proceedings.
