Mercedes-Benz again seeks to repo Shilo Sanders' car 03.06.2026

Mercedes-Benz Financial Services has again filed a motion with a federal bankruptcy court, seeking permission to repossess Shilo Sanders' car due to alleged missed payments totaling $9,170 for the period of February through May 2026. This marks the second such request since April 2025 concerning the same $135,000 vehicle. The car payment issue is part of Sanders' ongoing Chapter 7 bankruptcy case, initiated in October 2023 with over $11 million in debt, primarily to a former school security guard, John Darjean, who secured a default judgment of $11.89 million. Mercedes-Benz argues the car is depreciating and that the automatic stay preventing repossession is hindering their ability to recover their collateral, noting Sanders has minimal equity in the vehicle.
