Messerschmidt is open to supporting a government with Løkke 05.07.2026

The chairman of the Danish People's Party (DF), Morten Messerschmidt, has stated in an interview with Berlingske that he has not ruled out supporting a government led by the chairman of the Moderates, Lars Løkke Rasmussen, at the next election. Although Messerschmidt previously stated that DF would view Løkke Rasmussen as an absolute main opponent, he now suggests that political circumstances may change leading up to the next election. Messerschmidt rejects Berlingske's claim that DF's previous ultimatum against Løkke Rasmussen was the reason Mette Frederiksen became Prime Minister; instead, he explains that the lack of a center-right majority and the Moderates' rejection of a minority government were the decisive factors. Previously, DF attempted to offer support to a blue government without joining it themselves, but this offer was rejected by Løkke Rasmussen.
